How to use
The Career Counseling Center is designed to help students explore their future career options. By using the O*NET interest inventory website, students can explore the Holland types, RIASEC: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional. These 6 types are interest types that connect to different jobs. After taking the assessment, people end up with a three letter interest type code such as ASE, RIC, SAE, etc. (There are 720 different personality types!)
The order of the letters indicate the individual's preference, the 1st letter is the strongest interest, 2nd letter is 2nd strongest, and 3rd letter is the 3rd strongest. Different jobs directly correlate to an individual's exact code. Jobs that have all three of your letters are a really good interest and personality match to you! However, it is important to explore all jobs in each interest area specifically. It's about helping you find what you would like to do!
1. Take O*NET test to get your RIASEC three-letter code
2. Come back to this site to get a quick look at each of your top interests
3. Use the "Explore More" link at the bottom of your interest pages to see more jobs
4. Click on jobs on the O*NET website to see full details about each occupation including skills or education needed, salary, work style, and activities.
*Hint* If you click on the jobs highlighted on each interest page it will take you to the summary

Occupational choice is an expression of an individual's personality. Similar personalities work in similar fields. Knowing more about yourself and work environments leads to making the best job choice. Being able to work with like-minded people in fitting work environments leads to job satisfaction.
Remember! The tests DO NOT show you what job you HAVE to do, it shows you options of jobs that you are more likely to enjoy and fit in with.
Keep an open mind and start exploring! Your future is up to you!
